    It was at least a year before it dawned on me that the woman whose flawless skin I regularly complimented ("Creme de la Mer",she confided conspiratorially , "expensive but worth every penny")was actually having Botox.

      "You look fantastic," I gushed ."Botox , I suppose?""No ,"she said firmly."I 've just had a great holiday , that's all"

COME 我理解为出生、“来到这个人世”。UNDONE 我理解为未完工、未完善。合在一起，就是“生来就是不完美的”的意思吧，这个西方人的“原罪”概念很类似。结合歌词看这歌名字，似乎合题。

I knew she was lying, but she did it well and I understood why , for we live in conflicted times . while our mothers aged as gracefully as possible—hair colour and as good a face cream as they could afford---we are expected to look young forever.

I trace this trend back to 1980s , when Jane Fonda started doing aerobics vidieos and women all over the world began buying into the Carlifornian Dream. There , naturarlly tall , athletic women looked fabulous for their age , not because of Botox but because they ate healthily , didn’t smoke or drink ,exercised regularly and , thanks to the climate had golden tans and sun-streaked hair.

   Two decades on , all women are expected to emulate this look . For most of us , what this means in practice is a weekly yoga class , the odd skipped lunch , highlights every few months and St Tropez or Johnson's Holiday Lotion , depengding on budget.
